TradeExamPractice.ca is a free study hub for Canadian trades exams, owned by Nick Hesson.

The site exists to explain how a sitting works and to send people who want more practice to Nick’s own apps: SteamTicket, which is live, and SkiLiftQuiz, which is not. SteamTicket covers SOPEEC power engineering from 4th Class through 1st Class, and Red Seal 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic. SkiLiftQuiz will cover the Ontario TSSA Ski Lift Mechanic exam.

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for ABSA, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), Technical Safety BC, SOPEEC, the Red Seal program, Skilled Trades Ontario, SkilledTradesBC, or any other regulator or apprenticeship authority. Names of those bodies are used so you can find the official page.

Nothing here is an offer of certification, an interpretation that binds a safety manager, or a substitute for the Act, the regulation, or the current fee schedule. If a sentence on this site and a sentence on the regulator’s site disagree, the regulator’s sentence is the one that counts.

What we will not publish

• Other people’s prep courses, question banks, or a ranked directory of study tools.
• Third-party sponsors or ads.
• Real exam questions, or text copied from CSA or ASME standards.
• A fee or an eligibility rule we could not find on an official page. Those gaps are marked TODO. A sourced reading that still needs the regulator to confirm it is marked TO-CONFIRM.

How the facts were handled

Guides were checked against official pages on 2026-10-15. Sample questions were written for this site. Study plans were written here and are labelled as such. The rule-change watch is the list of dated changes we actually saw.
